jadi darawi (they/them) is an artist, educator, and theatre-maker based in toronto, canada. they are a recent graduate of the bachelor of fine arts in performance production program at toronto metropolitan university, and are currently enrolled in the master of arts in communication and culture program at toronto metropolitan university. their research interests include west asian culture, textile art, and pre-christian spirituality.
jadi currently works as a research assistant at the university of toronto’s centre for drama, theatre & performance studies, as well as an academic assistant at toronto metropolitan university’s school of performance. they are also a production manager for theatre and other live events. recent theatrical credits include production manager for “searching for aimai” (cahoots theatre, 2026), production support for “songs for bones, sweat, flesh” (toronto dance theatre, 2025), and production manager for summerworks festival (2025).
jadi’s artistic practice consists primarily of embroidery and textile art. their work has recently been shown at the exhibitions “building home” (cahoots theatre, 2025) and “collective/memory” (sur gallery, 2025), and will be shown at “gender mend” (textile arts center, 2026). when they are not busy embroidering, learning, or teaching, jadi can be found practicing aerial hoop.
